'George and Lynne' appeared in the Sun newspaper. The content and tone may seem very dated but the art is incredible.
I don't think there is another artist who can capture the subtle expression and poise of 'real' people with, what appears to be, absolute spontaneity.
Two pages from the 'How the West was Won' strip which appeared in the TV themed 'Look-In' magazine in the seventies.
'Eartha' appeared in the News of the World Sunday supplement magazine in the early eighties. The layouts might appear as if they should be double page spreads but the strip was actually given less than half a page for the first few episodes and was further reduced in later issues. The drawing is excellent and the colour beautifully modelled and moody.
In contrast to the vibrant 'fun' colouring of Eartha, the Spanish publication El Capitan Trueno displays John M Burns amazing versatility and mastery of colour.
